JOB DESCRIPTION:
Krones, Inc. seeks an Electrical Engineer 2 to utilize specialized knowledge of packaging machinery including conveyors, labelers, and inspection equipment to understand the electrical design, PLC and HMI programming as well as start-up and troubleshooting of the new machines.  The position is part of the KRONES.digital Community, working as part of a KRONES CDA development team and support our teams with onsite rollout of newest features and bring the Feedback form our customer / service technicians directly to the developers. This position is the first contact in the event of problems and errors to clarify the cause / collect information and solve the issues either on their own or work directly with the developers of the KRONES.digital Community to resolve the issue. A main focus is to find solutions for software problems on machines, that can include problems at the customer's site.  This position is based out of Milwaukee, WI.

 

FUNCTIONS:

• Coordinate pilot customer projects

• Install and roll out new developments at pilot customer sites

• Test, troubleshoot and gather customer feedback on new developments

• In the event of software problems, finding the cause and a fix the problem together with the development teams

• Prioritize and manage software bugs in Azure DevOps

• Train new Features to customers and KRONES

• Structure and prepare analytics data (dumps, logs, etc.)

• Share information and knowledge with colleagues (Training)

• Provide engineering level support for automation issues in region (max 20%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent, in Electrical Engineering or a related field, and 10-20 years of experience as a Controls Engineer or Field Service electrician in the packaging industry.  In addition, the following specific skills are required:

  • Good knowledge of programming languages (C#, WPF, .net)
  • Knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, Javescript/TypeScript, Python)
  • Knowledge of bus technology, communication technology, OPC UA is desirable
  • Knowledge of the network technology/network structure
  • Experience in continuous integration/continuous delivery/continuous deployment with Microsoft Azure DevOps and Jira
  • High analytical skills
  • Results oriented
  • Self-motivated and self-managed
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time (domestic and foreign)

 

Experience with one or more of the following automation technologies:

  • Siemens TIA
  • B&R Automation
  • cHMI
  • Network Configuration
