Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Franklin, WI
Reports To: Manager of CI, Center of Excellence, and Sustainability
Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer supports and optimizes CNC machining, fabrication, additive manufacturing, and machine assembly operations to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. This role focuses on process improvements, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and efficient utilization of capacity, tooling, and resources. The engineer will also play a key role in specifying, evaluating, and supporting the implementation of new capital equipment (CapEx) to expand and modernize production capabilities.
Responsibilities and Duties

Develop, implement, and refine manufacturing processes for CNC machining (3-axis, 5-axis, and additive manufacturing), fabrication, and assembly operations.

Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) initiatives, collaborating with product design teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective manufacturing.

Ensure manufacturing compliance with Safety, Quality, and Environmental ISO standards.

Analyze and improve process flow, equipment utilization, tooling strategies, and overall capacity planning.

Implement lean manufacturing and process improvements that reduce cycle time, increase throughput, and improve product quality.

Specify requirements for new production equipment, review vendor proposals, and provide technical input for CapEx justification. Support equipment commissioning, installation, and validation, ensuring smooth integration into production.

Support CPK Analysis of our equipment, implementing improvements suggested.

Specify tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aids for CNC, fabrication, and assembly processes.

Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in machining, fabrication, and assembly operations.

Develop and maintain process standards, best practices, and technical documentation.

Train operators and technicians on new processes, tooling, and equipment.

Evaluate and implement automation and digital manufacturing technologies where applicable.

Leads and initiates measures that mitigate risk within a manufacturing process alongside the quality engineering group. Including PFMEA, maintaining ISO compliance, and CPK analysis.

Facilitate implementation and maintenance of all TPM (planned maintenance, autonomous maintenance, and CI) activities.
Experience/Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering; equivalent technical experience considered.

3+ years of experience in CNC machining, fabrication, or manufacturing engineering.

Experience with manufacturing equipment, automation, and troubleshooting (CNC, milling, turning, and fabrication).

Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, process optimization, and DFM required.

Familiarity with capacity modeling, OEE, and tooling utilization of metrics. Strong analytical, technical writing, and communication skills.

Hands-on approach with proven ability to work effectively on the shop floor.
Technical Requirements:

Experience in CAM software (Esprit, NX, Gibbs or equivalent).

Strong understanding in CAD software (Solidworks ,AutoCAD, or equivalent).

Understanding of ERP/MRP systems (SAP S4/Hana preferred)

Strong grasp of GD&T, tolerancing, and precision machining practices.
