Product Manager Packaging Technologies

Job Summary:

This position will require the candidate to manage the Packaging Technologies (PT) portfolio which consists of case packers, palletizers and other secondary packaging equipment of which are sold as single machines or as part of a complete line.  The candidate will be an expert on the equipment portfolio and of the market including industry trends, market intelligence and the competition.  The primary focus is to support the regional sales team with budgetary quotes, customer presentations, and consultation for packaging requirements and/or technical solutions.  Secondary focus is to support the Bottling and Packaging Equipment team (BPE) with information that drives improvements in existing equipment as well as intelligence on market trends that may require a new solution or innovation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Interface with both regional sales managers and vice presidents to utilize available resources for obtaining information necessary to solve customer problems and assist with product demonstrations and presentations.
• Participate in and coordinate the development of sales objectives, strategies, advertising, and promotional programs as well as ensure execution of such programs.
• Act as liaison between field sales, technical design/support groups and service, at both Krones, Inc. and Krones AG, during all stages of the sales and support process.
• Develop business plans for assigned product area.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Professional Skills:

• Microsoft Office Suite, SAP applications, and Krones Portfolio.
• Knowledge of business administration, process and structural knowledge, market knowledge, and knowledge of policies, directives, guidelines, and standards.
• High degree of communication skills; above all the capability of preparing and presenting formal presentations as well as presenting written proposals and plans.
• Strong knowledge of Krones product line, packaging line concepts, various packaging equipment, and packaging equipment suppliers.

Soft Skills:

• General social skills, capacity for teamwork, customer orientation, learning aptitude, problem-solving competence, time- and self-management, coordination and organization skills, communication skills, and negotiation skills.

Qualifications:

• 5-8 years' previous experience in sales/marketing/engineering required, experience in the packaging industry (product specific) preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in packaging, electrical pr mechanical engineering preferred.
